There is a growing number of software vendors who consider the capabilities of every new offering they bring to market and attempt to incorporate them fully into their ecosystems. Cross-platform ecosystems – like Apple's iOS and Google's Android OS – are solid examples of this kind of capability. These benefits run deep too. Apple's iMessage service, for example, keeps text-based conversations flowing naturally whenever a user switches from their handset (iPhone) to their tablet (iPad) or their computer (Macintosh). Real-time data streams are shared between all the Apple devices to keep them in sync and maintain a consistent user experience for those message threads. Moreover, this sort of functionality drives loyalty to the top-level brand (in this case Apple) and binds users into a particular ecosystem.Read More

As designers we are often focused on what colors to use, which type looks best, and what graphics pop and fit well with our message. And yes, we are also thinking about the users’ experience - “Does the user realize that the link was clicked/tapped?” for example. We are usually thinking about the 91.5% that can see normally. So what about the other 8.5% (8% male vs 0.5% female) who are colorblind? There are currently about 3.5 billion people who roam around using their mobile devices to communicate, socialize, travel, shop -- even learn -- and that means approximately 41 million people may not be able use your application to it’s full capability if they can’t see it correctly.
OnPoint Digital won two Gold Awards from Brandon Hall Group last week in their annual Excellence Awards for Learning Technology competition and our team couldn’t be prouder!Read More
The last few years of increasing attendence at Gamification specific events and panels at eLearning & Mobile Learning conventions show that Gamification is a trend that continues to be on the rise. When OnPoint first ventured into this realm a few years ago, we assembled a modest but varied library of badges to be used in the creation of games in the OnPoint LMS and CellCast applications for learners to earn and display with pride.
It is in keeping with this upward movement and continued investment in Gamification that we are happy to announce a sizable increase in our badge library options.

Last week was a terrific time for our company as we attended The eLearning Guild’s annual mLearnCon Conference & Expo this year held in San Diego, California. OnPoint generally participates in 6 to 8 different events every calendar year but we consider mLearnCon our “Super Bowl” given its focus on enterprise mobile learning with a simpatico audience, session schedule and exhibitor roster to match. We also plan out much of company’s marketing campaigns and core product and feature releases around with this June anniversary so the time spent thinking about, preparing and delivering for mLearnCon week is considerable. We launch months ahead with tall ambitions and high hopes alike, and this year’s event did not disappoint.Read More

With the onset of mainstream mobile learning (mLearning) in recent years, it’s only natural to see more companies jumping into the game with both feet. Included in that list of “new players” are the large Learning & Talent Management System providers, and while it may seem like an obvious choice to simply run mLearning programs and initiatives through your existing LMS, there are several important reasons to consider other options as you begin or ramp up your efforts in today’s world of mobile computing.Read More
Captivate 8 Review: WOW!
This inaugural “Generation 2” blog posting comes on the heels of a tectonic shift in the mobile learning authoring tool wars…namely, the availability last week of Adobe Captivate 8 officially unveiled on May 20, 2014 in company press releases. The introduction was also several months ahead of rumors I’d heard from others “in the know” who had alluded to an arrival later this fall. As such things go, I spent many unplanned hours over the recent 3-day holiday weekend here in the US digging into what this new release holds and its significance on the mobile learning community moving forward. Upon initial review, Adobe Captivate 8 is well positioned as a key technology for heralding in a new era of “mobile first” capabilities and attitudes that can accelerate change and ultimately transform a mobile learning landscape that has plodded along for years. It couldn’t come at a better time.Read More
